Tess Mayer is a freelance portrait and documentary photographer based in Brooklyn, NY. 

A lot of her work focuses on how we find communities and places to belong. 

She particularly loves working with performers and artists. Her favorite part about being a photographer is learning from other people and communities, and is open to many different types of assignments and jobs. 

She holds a BFA in Photography & Imaging from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has also worked as a photo editor for Interview Magazine and Oatly’s Hey Barista Magazine. 

Tess takes on a handful of weddings every year. Her style is documentary based, and priortizes couples who value slowing down and film processes. Please see her separate wedding website to inquire about wedding photography.
